Company and Director each fined $250,000 for false tax credit claim
Calgary, Alberta, September 4, 2009 ... The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced today that Ian George McIntyre, age 65, of Spruce Grove, and Global Enviro Inc., of Calgary, were found guilty in Calgary Provincial Court of attempting to falsely obtain a Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) credit. As a result, they were each fined $250,000 for a total fine of $500,000.
"The overwhelming majority of Canadians pay their taxes in full and on time," said William V. Baker, Commissioner of the Canada Revenue Agency. "In fairness to them, the Canada Revenue Agency makes sure that people who try to avoid paying taxes are held to account."
